If you one of those iPhone users who is not that geeky, it might be pretty bugging at times when iPhone’s auto-correct feature keeps correcting your slang and hinglish typos’ while emailing or sms’ing. There is an easy way you. You can turn off this auto-correct feature, here is how:
- Tap Settings icon
- Go to General > Keyboard menu
- Turn off Auto-Correction
You can now type anything without getting bugged.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH
yeah, sad.
hahaha!!!
Thanks, I hate autocorrect!!!!
I agree with you, Rob. And thanks for the help, cause I didn’t have time and patience to figure that out.
Thanks So much! Auto correct got me in trouble when it changed Swedish Snus into Swedish Anus.
Actually, the autocorrect feature would be great, if the priority were reversed. Meaning, if you want the suggested spelling of a word, then you click on that word. Having to a) either x out of the auto correct suggestion, or b) take your consequences are both annoying options. I’d be fine if it popped up all the suggestions it wants to, and I can CHOOSE to use them or not. That’s how it should work.
OMG LIFE SAVER
Thank you so much for this tip, very helpful, auto correct was kind of getting on my nerves.
Thanks for this post – i recently purchased an iPhone and the auto correct has been making me nutz (sp)! It IS somewhat amusing when HeeHee becomes Hedges and Whataburger becomes what urges! Hate autocorrect!!
Thx so much…..auto-correct tends to get on my nerves!
thanx man 4 d help
god bless you
Thanks for the tip. This morning I sent a text telling someone I was having a Pepsi and it changed it to pepsin without asking me first. It seems stupid that turning off auto correct also turns off spell check. Give me a warning but don’t change what I write without permission.
Baloon You are probably the only person who should not turn off the auto correct feature. Judging from your spelling and grammar and your angry attitude. You don’t know when to be hip and when to be professional. Go back to school…a GED only gets you to the french fry station.
um… what? Nobody said only white people use iPhones. English was mentioned because, well, the damn post is in English, so naturally the author expects readers who use English. And of course not everyone spends hours playing with their phone’s settings, that’s the whole reason that the author posted this – to help people who haven’t yet figured out how to turn of auto-correct. Get a life and quit bitching at people who are trying to be helpful, asshole.
Agreed.
it would be better if you tapped on the baloon to use the suggested word if you want it, not having to x out every word you DONT want!
Its can be switched off in the settings, it works the wrong way round for me! surely you would prefer to always use the word your actually writing and not what it thinks you should be, having to press a tiny x everytime you use a name to me is backward thinking but there you go .There is nothing worse when it auto changes someones name. Sort out your attitude balloon, it’s unproductive.
Danke!!
Thanks!!
What Rob said. Maybe for iPhone 5, eh?
Someone takes the time and effort to help other people and all you can do is abuse them. Nice.
thx man…
its not about being a slang or hinglish.. not only white people use iphones you know.. other country use iphone too.. you prolly spending the whole time playing with your iphone but other people doesnt have time to do that.. coz most of em has their own lives.. fckin dumb!
I would be nice if you could turn the autocorrect on and off on the fly. There are times when it's really useful.
